In intro to fine arts we practiced drawing with graphite by doing a drawing a leaf about the size of a hand. This blog post is a critique of that drawing. My original leaf drawing is shown in the three pictures below:
Right off the bat, the first thing that I did wrong with this drawing was making it too light. I could have gone much heavier on basically all of the lines, and I had virtually no shading. One of the other things that could have been better was the shadows. I neglected to add any shadows to my drawing making the leaf seem very flat and two dimensional. Other than that I can’t think of any other ways that I could improve my drawing besides giving it a little more depth. In all it was an ok drawing but could have used some shading.
