For intro to fine arts we had to copy a cubism painting. This is the painting that I chose.

This is the painting that I created:

For this painting I used water colors too recreate the original cubism painting. The main problem that I encountered was getting the painting to actually look cubistic.  This was harder than it seems as the water paints blended together frequently when I did not want them to.

For Intro to Fine Arts we were required to find a modern art picture on the web and copy it in a picture of our own. For my art piece I chose this picture which I found on the internet.

I then used water color to copy the painting and created this painting.

In the picture I took it looks much lighter than it actually is. Even so I think that I made the painting a little too light. Another problem that I had with this painting was replicating the textures from the original. In retrospect it would probably have been better in acrylic rather than water color.

This is a project that I did for art. We first traced a picture off of our screen. I used a picture of Steve (the generic Minecraft skin).

Next we poked holes through the paper into a black scratch art sheet. We were then able to draw out our original picture.

(it was difficult to get rid of the glare)

Below are three pictures of a two point perspective drawing that I completed for art class of the tower on Brophy chapel.

This project was even more difficult because of how complex Brophy chapel is, and how many different decorative structures it has on it. While I was drawing this, I tried to follow the rules of perspective and make it look like the actual tower at the same time. Although my outline was very shaky and didn’t look at all realistic, I was able to erase and redraw until it looked just a bit more like the actual thing (pictured below).

This is a drawing that I did in art of a picture of Saint John the Baptist. When I first made this drawing I out lined it in pencil on a grid. After that I went back over it with a quill and ink. One of the main things that I think I could improve on is the sizes of different objects in the picture. For example my tower was a bit too big and some of the other parts of the church were a bit too small. The other thing that I could improve on is going into more details on some of the different parts of the church. Below is a picture of the finished drawing.

This is a drawing that I created of a still life arrangement for my intro to fine arts class. When I did this drawing I tried to focus on the individual objects as opposed to that table and cloth that they rested on. Some objects were blurred and faded, some others weren’t even in the picture, such as a table cloth and a meat grinder. The purpose of this was to draw attention to the vase on the far left. As I was drawing I tried to make the attention of the picture drawn to that vase. I hate to admit it but the main reason that I didn’t draw the table cloth was that I couldn’t draw a good table cloth and I didn’t want the picture to look strange. One of the main things that it didn’t have enough of was shading. This is made even worse in the online pictures because of the quality of my scanner, but it was still pretty light in the original drawing.

Below is a fourth, larger picture of my drawing. If you want to zoom in just click on it.

In intro to fine arts we practiced drawing with graphite by doing a drawing a leaf about the size of a hand. This blog post is a critique of that drawing. My original leaf drawing is shown in the three pictures below:

Right off the bat, the first thing that I did wrong with this drawing was making it too light. I could have gone much heavier on basically all of the lines, and I had virtually no shading. One of the other things that could have been better was the shadows. I neglected to add any shadows to my drawing making the leaf seem very flat and two dimensional.  Other than that I can’t think of any other ways that I could improve my drawing besides giving it a little more depth. In all it was an ok drawing but could have used some shading.
